DAVID FARBER, PHOTOGRAPHER
Date: Dec. 4, 2008
Hello everyone; I really hope everybody is having a blessed year. Mine has been very good, blessed in many ways. I did not do any traveling this year but got some great new photographs very locally. I got some very nice surprises that were not even photographs. In May I was nominated, for my photography, by Tom Gollan, my friend and DHS caseworker, for the Illinois Rehabilitation Association, 2008 Personal Achievement Award. The nomination was seconded by Dr. Murray Fisher, whom I have been assisting, for 24 years, in helping teachers and future teachers, develop a greater empathy and understanding for special needs children. Well to cut to the chase, I was selected as the recipient of this award plus the same award from the Northern Illinois Chapter of Rehabilitation Association. Because I was selected as the award winner, I was offered, and accepted, a part time position shooting photos of selected individuals and events for the DHS annual report calendar. I had a great time doing this and met many new people, even got paid for this and learned a few new things. With all this going on, I then learned that I had been selected by the National Rehabilitation Association as the recipient of their 2008 E.B.Witten Silver Medallion Award. It sure feels great to be recognized for doing something, especially something that has made my life so much more worth living since my accident. I hope everybody has a wonderful Holiday season coming up.
